Hello everyone! It’s been awhile since I last put out a post and there’s many reasons for that. I’ve been busy writing two books for my respective series: Band of Unlikely Heroes and Firebird. I’m in the thick of plotting danger and trouble for my favorite leading characters. I’ve also been subbing to help my husband and son in our food service business to ease staffing issues. My back and legs remind me why I prefer a desk job over being on my feet all day. The good news is that we are getting back to full staff and I can return to writing on a more full-time basis.
Better news, my youngest son graduated the University of Iowa this past May. He worked hard to accomplish everything he did and gain a shiny new degree. I am excited for him and know he has a bright future ahead.
With summer here, I have many plans such as breaking in a new hot tub I use as a dipping pool when it gets really hot. I also have a nice sized backyard garden and will be spending a few days in Branson with my kids and grandchildren for a fun family vacation. Between writing and all of the other things, there’s not much time for anything else.
The best and most surprising news, however, is that The Girl with Stars in Her Eyes is a semi-finalist in the ACFW (American Christin Fiction Writier’s) Carol Award. Years ago I attended my first conference which was an ACFW conference. I dreamed about someday winning this particular award. Back in 2016 I went to Nashville when I became a finalist for the ACFW Genesis award for The Girl with Stars under a different title: Kingdom Come. I won the award that year and had one dream come true. This August I’ll head to St. Louis to find out if that same book wins this prestigious award. It would be an incredible bookend for Tambrynn’s story. I have hope even though I’m up against some real titans of the industry who are also semi-finalists, most of whom have taught me over the years. To win over just one of them would be a huge boon for me, let alone six others of their caliber. I am honored and amazed to be counted among their ranks.
So, that’s what’s been happening and will be happening in my corner of the world. I hope your Summer is sun-filled.
